The Acura NSX was introduced in 2017 and is in its second generation. Some people have wondered whether the manufacturer will release a 2023 Acura NSX.

There actually will not be a 2023 model year. However, the coupe sports car has achieved much popularity in its five-year run. Learn about this vehicle’s history and what’s next for Acura.

Origins of the 2023 Acura NSX

Concept and development began in the late 1980s as an alternative and competitor to the fancy sports cars of the era. It should be noted that this model was developed by Honda automakers and was subsequently the Honda NSX. In fact, the model to this day is still sold as the Honda NSX outside of North America.

1990s

By 1995, the Honda NSX underwent major upgrades. This included better handling through a manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. In 1997, the engine output significantly improved thanks to the addition of a 3.0-liter V6 engine that produced 290 horsepower. The fixed roof was also replaced with a removable targa roof.

2000s

The Honda NSX was discontinued in the U.S. in 2002 and would be relegated to history until its reintroduction in 2016. The Honda NSX returned as a second-generation model with a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine. For the North American audience, the model was released as an Acura model, hence becoming the Acura NSX we know and love today.
